About Tricia:
Tricia Lea is a very popular
teacher/dancer, who is multi-talented and well versed in Lindy Hop, West
Coast Swing, and Argentine Tango. The last time she was here in
Portland we had the biggest turnout in recent memory.
Tricia Lea
discovered social dancing in 1997, when the famous lindy hopper
Frankie Manning came to Northampton, Massachusetts. "From
that moment," she often says with a smile, "I never looked
back." Tricia retired her basketball sneakers, gave up her
various athletic coaching positions, and began her career in dance.
In the ensuing nine years, Tricia has become a nationally recognized
dancer in lindy hop, assisting Frankie in teaching on several
occasions, and remains one of the most versatile dancers in the
region. She can lead and follow almost every partner dance (Lindy
Hop, swing, hustle, waltz, and Argentine Tango). She has
traveled extensively to learn lindy hop and has competed in national
competitions. Currently, she is a teacher in both the dance
and history departments at the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts
Charter High School (PVPA) in South Hadley Massachusetts, where she
is director and choreographer for a dance group. She leads workshops
for adults and teenagers in lindy hop, the Big Apple, West
Coast/lindy and tango fusion dance, and choreographs lindy/west
coast/tango fusion pieces. In addition, she DJ's lindy dances
in her local community. On May 15, her dance group will be
performing for Frankie Manning at a local high school dance
festival.
